We have selected four sites for you that we think you will find entertaining, enriching but also surprising.  We invite you to explore and get a sense of the universe of the women of the 21st century.  This section will expand as we make new discoveries on the web.

Du rose dans le gris (Pink in a Grey World) - only in French

http://drdlg.blogs.com/

A blog created by 6 women’s networks whose common aim is to bring about a shift in mentality. The six networks are Action de Femmes (Women’s Action), Accent sur Elles (Focus on Women), Arborus, EPWN (European Professional Women’s Network), Administration moderne – femmes de hauts fonctionnaires (Modern Administration – Senior Women in the Civil Service) and HRM women (Women HR Managers).  This blog acts as a watchdog, highlighting anomalies that appear throughout the media (a survey by the Association of Women Journalists showed that only 18% of individuals quoted in the press are women, and in the majority of cases, they are referred to as “the wife of …”).  This blog also campaigns, with humour, for greater gender equality in public life.  Women today represent 56% of college graduates, 30% of managers in companies, and only 7% of corporate board members.

EPWN - in English

http://www.europeanpwn.net/

EPWN (the European Professional Women’s Network) is of Europe’s largest networks of professional women with a presence in 16 European cities.  The Board members of the BNP Paribas MixCity Association are all already members of this network.  In France, EPWN is among the pioneers of women’s networks, having been active since 1996.  Today, it is the most extensive network in France, with more than 1,000 members. Marie-Claude Peyrache joined in 2004 and served as its President until September 2009.

Interdit aux hommes (No Men Allowed) - only in French

http://www.interdit-aux-hommes.net/

This site was created by Emmanuelle Gagliardi, author of the “Guide des clubs et réseaux au feminine” (Guide to Women’s Clubs and Networks).  The purpose of Interdit aux Hommes is to enable members of different networks to make contact with each other in the same forum.  The site has 12,000 members, both women and men.

You will find on this site:

-          Company profiles (for the purpose of identifying “women-friendly” companies –

           look carefully, they’re still rare!)
-          Interviews with women who are “role models” or “experts”
-          And many other things as well …

Sexisme ordinaire (Everyday Sexism) - only in French

http://www.sexismeordinaire.com/

This site was created by Brigitte Grésy.  Last July, she submitted a report to the French Minister of Labour concerning gender equality in the workplace, and has just published her book, “Petit traité contre le sexisme ordinaire” (A short treatise against everyday sexism). Faced with the “ordinariness” of sexist behaviours, attitudes and language in the professional world, Brigitte Grésy inspires us to understand, denounce and defuse behaviour and situations that all too often seem harmless, or even just a matter of course, for too many men … and women.

A big thank you!

To the members of the following women’s networks, who gave us a helping hand in launching the BNP Paribas MixCity Association by sharing their experience with us:
