The Association

1. From MixCity to the Association BNP Paribas MixCity

MixCity is a network of executive women who work for BNP Paribas. The network was created in 2004 under the aegis of Human Resources.

Building on the success of its early achievements, MixCity went one step further in 2009 and recreated itself as a not-for-profit association under the French law of 1901, with a formal governance structure and an independent budget.

MixCity’s new status as a not-for-profit association is not only a sign of recognition but an endorsement of its actions. This association has an essential role to play as a watchdog and as an initiator of new behaviours.”

Baudouin Prot,

President of BNP Paribas

The Association BNP Paribas MixCity concerns all women managers who want to take steps to ensure that the role of women in the company and in society as a whole continues to be valued.  The association is a forum in which executive women can meet others like themselves, with different roles within the Group, in order to share their contacts, their knowledge and their experience.

The aim of this network, is to:
- Promote women’s access to management roles; and
- Promote measures which facilitate an improved work/life balance.

2. Aim and Objectives

AIM
- To create an active, valued-added social network within the company.

I admire the way in which women succeed in balancing their personal and professional lives. From a managerial perspective, women generally bring a different point of view to the table; they bring something different and positive to the company.”

Baudouin Prot,
President of BNP Paribas

OBJECTIVES
- To become a community for executive women at BNP Paribas which offers its members frequent opportunities for meetings and discussions in which to share their experience and thoughts.  The more BNP Paribas’ women managers identify and become involved with the association, the stronger the impact of the association’s internal and external activities will be – enabling the Association BNP Paribas MixCity to become an effective contributor to the challenges being faced by the company.

- To propose new “rules of the game” in order to evolve the codes which contribute to professional success and help break the glass ceiling.  This means changing the assumptions, and some preconceptions of the decisionmakers, encouraging them to develop a positive attitude towards “talents au féminin.”

- To extend the network’s reach internationally by linking and supporting other groups across BNP Paribas.

3. Mindset

The members of the association share a common approach:

Responsibility

To be regarded as a constructive partner with whom  Human Resource and senior management can establish a dialogue.

Dynamism

To make the network a dynamic part of BNP Paribas, as well as providing a point of contact with other women’s networks in other sectors.

Creativity

To be a source of innovation for the Group as a whole, and for the women working for the Group in particular.
